Suicide now causes more youth deaths than does any physical disease. Despite these stakes, lack of leadership & deadly silence persist around this life or death issue. Well no more, not on our watch! Let’s be the generation to demand action & End the silence & stigma for good.

What We Do
find help, make friends, join the fight!
END THE SILENT EPIDEMIC has 3 distinct pillars. No matter where you are in your journey with mental health or suicide, you belong here and we have something to offer you. We hope you will benefit from one or multiple of our three foundational pillars: 1. Mental Health Activism, 2. Mental Health Education, and our 3. Resource Hub. Whether you are just beginning and feel that you are entirely lost, not even sure that you have the fight within you to keep battling your mental health struggles, or whether you have courageously battled your way to a place wherein you now want to advocate on behalf of others, one of our three pillars is certain to offer something to ease your suffering, help you ease the suffering of someone you love dearly, or on a larger scale, help END THE SILENCE & STIGMA surrounding youth mental health and youth suicide at large. NO MORE SILENCE, NOT ON OUR WATCH!

Pillar 1: Activism!
Weekly mental health Carousels & Suicide prevention slideshows!
Tangible, positive, & sustainable action is our absolute first priority because as our name suggests, we believe the silence, stigma, and deadly inaction surrounding youth mental illness and youth suicide is one of the largest contributive factors to what has become the 2nd leading cause of death in youth 10-34 years old: SUICIDE.
FRIENDS FOR LIFE, our foundational activism initiative, developed over the course of more than a year using entirely empirical, evidenced-based data & built doing everything within our power, because youth safety has been & always will be our number one priority, to ensure that this model was not only achieving it’s intended goal but that youth safety is always being upheld at every turn by implementing as many safeguards, alternative options & safety nets as we could think up or find in the research.
What started out as a basic initiate that we celebrated with once weekly social media posts to celebrate what we call “FRIENDS FOR LIFE FRIDAY”—the crucial day of the week that you ALWAYS send you FFL a mental health check-in, has blossomed into something almost unrecognizable for FRIENDS FOR LIFE is now officially under development to be the first of it’s kind, groundbreaking, hopefully LIVE-SAVING cross-platform PROACTIVE PEER-T0-PEER GATEKEEPING YOUTH MENTAL WELLNESS & YOUTH SUICIDE PREVENTION APP. Meanwhile, to ensure the model is helping people right away, not waiting to wait for the model to be able to help people during the time it takes to develop a smartphone app from scratch: we’ve built the FRIENDS FOR LIFE FORUM, MEET-UP, and SAFE SPACE: a FREE, MODERATED and optionally ANONYMOUS youth mental health online peer-based support community centered around the FFL model! Please navigate using buttons below to learn more about whichever aspect you find most intriguing!

Pillar 2: Education!
Weekly Educational & Suicide pRevention multi-media slideshows:
At this moment in time, over 80% of youth with a diagnosable mental illness in the United States go without proper mental health treatment—undoubtedly a significant contributing factor as to why suicide is now the 2nd LEADING CAUSE OF DEATH IN ALL YOUTH 10-34 YEARS OLD, causing more deaths annually than any physical illness—in fact youth suicide is responsible for more deaths annually in this age group than heart disease, cancer, AIDS, birth defects, pneumonia, influenza, and lung disease COMBINED. This disgraceful gap in our health care system MUST BE ADDRESSED, but this solution will not be simple or fast.
Our original educational material produced as often as possible (usually every other week, if not weekly), is our way of giving those 80%+ youth who struggle with mental health but don’t have the basic access to mental health care they so desperately need, a fighting chance (all of our original educational materials are FREE and AVAILABLE TO ALL.
So while we advocate therapy & other treatments for all that can access them, we are here working hard to produce our highest quality original educational materials, because the data speaks for itself that ARMING YOUTH WITH MENTAL HEALTH KNOWLEDGE HAS PROVEN TIME & AGAIN TO BE ONE OF THE STRONGEST PROTECTIVE FACTOR AGAINST SELF-HARM AND SUICIDE! Because the cohort impacted so negatively by suicide ranges all the way from 10 year olds to those in their mid 30’s, and because their are so many critical topics to cover when it comes to mental wellness, mental illness, and suicide prevention, we are lucky enough to have three talented authors on our team, each of whom writes content under their specific theme. Please see below for each of the three unique offerings, in case one or all three could empower you with knowledge, coping skills, or self-harm reduction techniques to help ensure the mental wellness and safety of yourself of a loved one!

The above two initiatives are one of the ways we keep our valued End The Silent Epidemic community members engaged and make sure that they not only have a say in our activism, direction and mission, but in fact are active partners in steering the momentum of this movement. Both the above initiatives feature new community members weekly.
Youth Perspectives: Mental Health, our Youth Content Director, 15 YO Ava Martin, hosts a weekly IG Live show in which she interviews a fellow teen or young adult on a topic relevant to youth mental health and or suicide prevention. Not only are we interested in hearing from you regarding which topics to cover (this week’s topic was youth male mental health access—or the lack thereof. We also would love to have you as a guest if you have a story to tell or feel that you have a topic you are passionate to speak on. Immediately below this paragraph you can click on one of two icons to either DM or email us to send your topic recommendation or request a spot on our show.
#SUNDAYSHARE focuses on providing a platform to give @ESE community members who feel that they have something important to SHARE, a platform through which to share that message with a wider audience. We use the term “SHARE” because we want it to be very open to interpretation thus allowing people to feel inspired to communicate their truth in whatever format or medium feels most authentic—speaking, singing, poetry, art, etc. The only “guidelines is that we ask that you keep your SHARE to one minute or under. If you feel that you need a little more guidance, the general idea is that we are hoping that this will be an avenue for people to use their voice (or other gifts) to help END THE SILENCE and END THE STIGMA surround youth suicide and youth mental illness once and for good. Just as above, you can submit your #SUNDAYSHARE using either of the two icons below (use the IG icon to DM us and use the email icon to send an email with the video (or content in whatever form it may be in) as an attachment to that email.
